Diagnostic testing
A large part of the information we gather to diagnose and treat your pet comes from testing of blood, urine, fecal samples and tissue samples. Our in-house laboratory is able to give us quick information on a variety of tests. We also rely heavily on an outside commercial Laboratory, university laboratories with extremely high quality standards and several pathologists we can consult
Microchipping
A missing dog or cat can be a terrifying feeling for pet owners and your pet. The best chance for owners to find his or her missing pet is to have a microchip implanted in your pet by a veterinarian. Using implant technology and a national database with the pet owner information, is safe and easy to use which brings peace of mind to the owner of the pet.
SENIOR PET CARE
Annual preventative care is even more important for senior animals to prevent or delay the diseases that older animals are more prone to, such as osteoarthritis, hormone disorders, organ failure, cancer, and disease of the kidney, heart, and liver. Animals age at a rate of five to seven times that of humans, so regular wellness visits are strongly recommended to make sure that all of your pet’s healthcare needs are being met.
Dental care
Our professional dental care includes complete ultrasonic scaling, root planing, and polishing. We place your pet under anesthesia and remove plaque and tartar using hand instruments and power scaling equipment (just like your dentist does!). We give your pet’s teeth a thorough ultrasonic cleaning and polishing. We will perform a comprehensive oral exam and check each tooth for movement, gingival pockets, fractures, malocclusion, and periodontal disease, and perform digital dental x-rays.
Cat Friendly Practice
It can be stressful for both you and your cat to visit the veterinarian. The veterinary visit starts before you even arrive at the veterinary clinic with trying to get your cat in the carrier and the car ride to the practice. Collar City Animal Hospital takes specific extra steps to assure they understand a cat’s unique needs, have implemented feline-friendly standards, and provides a more calming environment, such as feline-only exam rooms. Collar City Animal Hospital team have also been trained in feline-friendly handling and understanding cat behavior in order to increase the quality of care for your cat.

Surgery
Collar City Animal Hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art surgical suite and trained veterinarians who perform a wide range of general surgical procedures. Our surgical suite is equipped with the latest anesthesia and patient monitoring equipment. We carefully examine each pet prior to surgery and require that every patient have a pre-anesthetic blood test to evaluate their internal organ function. After examination, anesthetic drugs are individually selected for your pet based on the procedure, their age, breed, and health condition.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations play a very important role in your pet’s long-term health and wellness plan. Vaccine’s help prepare your pet’s immune system to fight some very serious disease-causing organisms. Without vaccines your pet is vulnerable. At Collar City Animal Hospital we work with you to set up a safe and personalized schedule for your pet’s vaccinations taking into full consideration age, medical history, environment, travel habits, and lifestyle in mind when it comes to their care.
X-ray imaging
While lab results can tell us what’s going on inside your pet, our digital X-ray units allow us to actually seer it. We use dental and full body state of the art digital x-ray machines that immediately produce images that our doctors can interpret onsite.
Should your pet need to follow up with a specialist, the digital machines we use allow us to send those images in an instant so there is no delay in your pet getting the care they need when they need it.
Lab services
In our laboratory, we are able to carefully conduct diagnostic testing, if your pet requires it, at times of emergency and illness, or during a preventive wellness exam. Our advanced diagnostic equipment allows us to obtain your pet’s test results quickly so that we can provide fast, comprehensive treatment for your dog or cat.
Pain management
Physical pain affects animals and humans alike. But because our furry companions cannot describe their symptoms, they rely on us to recognize and treat their discomfort. While the signs of acute pain are often easy to recognize, all too often, chronic or low-level pain in pets goes undiagnosed. Behavioral cues such as reluctance to exercise or loss of appetite can be misinterpreted and are often dismissed simply as signs of advancing age. Learning to understand how our pets experience and show pain is a critical step in managing their discomfort.
Digital Ultrasound
We use our ultrasound machine to view your pet’s organs, in a format similar to a video. We can measure size, see densities, and even watch the heart pump and see blood flow. Our ultrasound is digital, so we can send full ultrasound studies, or images to specialists that may provide additional insight or provide follow up care should your pet require it.
Wellness
We formulate an individualized treatment plan that caters to your pet’s individual needs based on your pet’s breed, physical condition, lifestyle, and previous immunization history. To establish a comprehensive profile of your pet’s health, wellness care includes a physical examination, internal and external parasite screenings, vaccinations, dietary assessment, and blood tests if necessary. In addition, our veterinarians will monitor your pet’s weight so that we can recommend modifications in diet or exercise if necessary. A healthy body weight is important for your pet to live a long and healthy life.
